The first picture on this page shows My basic outfit.
This is what I would wear (without beard) in the summer.
It consists of a breechclout (Covered by shirt) brain tanned elkskin leggings and a knee length pullover type shirt.
The shirt has been dyed in walnut hulls and is a muted buckskin color for "camouflage" I generally wear the bright colored regimental jacket seen on the previous page only during regular hunting season so I am not mistaken for game by another hunter.
It's not hunter orange but it's bright enough red to make it difficult to mistake Me for a game animal.
In the summer I would wear the walnut dyed shirt and elkskin leggins with moose hide moccasins as it helps me blend into the forest.
I may wear the green revolutionary war 'Hessian" regimental coat or a green 'Kings Rangers" coat if it gets chilly as it frequently does in Montana.
For a belt I wear an Inkle woven sash and or belt combination.
Sometimes I wear the sash only and sometimes just the belt and sometimes both.
It all depends on how much I feel like carrying.
Again.
I can't emphasize this enough, Wear Your gear while gardening or cleaning Your barn or cutting wood and get some sweat and grime built up on it.
The biggest mistake I see reenactors make is they don't want to get their outfit dirty.
I'm telling You nothing screams "Newbie" like a bright white shirt and squeaky clean buckskin.
Gut your deer in Your outfit, Get some blood on it sleep on the ground in it and get it looking like it has "Been there, Done that" It will go along way towards making You look nore authentic and will help prevent people from calling You a "Farb".
The second picture is My cold weather heavy winter outfit.
It is a heavy blanket wool 'Capote" or "blanket coat" Dark Blue with black stripes.
Under that I wear several shirts and usually My long French and Indian war sleeveless weskit.
I made this coat many years ago and wish I had made it green but I have become very fond of this capote over the years so I still wear it.
I again have the Raccoon hat and a pair of genuine antique Wolf hide mittens.
I am also carrying a flintlock 50 caliber longrifle and My leather shooting bag.
If it becomes REALLY cold I will add a pair of blanket wool leggings over My elk hide leggings for extra warmth.
I will be dedicating a page to all the acouterments I carry such as Shooting bags, Flint and steel fire starting equiptment and axes, knives, tools and other items either not shown on these first few pages.
I am also going to eventually add a photo page of clothing and acouterments so You can get close ups of smaller details not visible in the general overall pictures.
This website is under construction and I add to it as time permits.
keep checking back as I will be adding more pages soon.
